Charitable trusts
Our firm acts for a number of well known charities and also assists private clients in establishing charitable trusts. We can advise you on setting up a charitable trust, whether by way of a trust deed or through an existing trustee company, as well as advising on issues arising in the course of operating a trust.
Our services include advising on the interpretation of trust deeds and amendments to trust deeds, advising on disputes relating to charitable trusts and acting for trustees in court proceedings involving the trusts.
Not for profit organisations
Where appropriate, we can assist you in establishing a ‘not for profit’ organisation, including preparing the constitution and liaising with the tax office (encompasses OSR) and other authorities to assist you in obtaining the necessary registrations and approvals.
School law
Our firm advises a number of schools and we have lawyers familiar with the areas of law which are relevant to schools and their constituent bodies.
We advise schools on issues such as:
-
School constitutions
-
School council procedures
-
Establishing building funds, library funds and other deductible gift recipient funds
-
Public liability issues
-
Technology contracts
-
Privacy law issues
Pro bono work
Because we have regular contact with a significant number of charities and not for profit organisations through our private client and estate law services, we are familiar with the needs of charities and not for profit organisations and understand the financial constraints under which they operate.
We are proud to be able to assist a number of organisations with pro bono legal advice as part of our service to the community.
Organisations for whom we have provided pro bono services include:
-
St John Ambulance Australia (NSW)
-
